Born May 23, 1933, she is a star who has lived full life, with a successful acting career spanning over 60 years on stage, television (she is best known for her role as Alexis Colby in Dynasty) and film, numerous awards and several books to her name.
She starred in two films based on the novels written by her sister, Jackie Collins.
And yet, in her very latter years, her face and figure have stayed stunningly beautiful, using only proper exercise, diet and skin care. In fact, she’s a spokesperson for a new anti-aging cream.
Joan Collins: Older Women Are Beautiful
Joan especially believes in the beauty of older women. In an article she wrote for the Daily Mail, Joan said, “Why should people be so surprised that women in their 50s, 60s and 70s look sexy and absolutely wonderful? I have many friends in their 60s, 70s and 80s, not in the limelight, but who all look absolutely stunning.”
She added, “The fact that there are scores of women looking stunning and far younger than their biological age seems to be overlooked, or, if recognized, then met with wonderment.”
Still, not everyone is impressed. At her age many other actresses would have already had celebrity plastic surgery to fight the signs of aging. And to many people plastic surgery is not such a big deal.
Joan Collins Stands Firm Against Cosmetic Surgery
But she has made a firm stand against it, and has never admitted using it. In an article from thebosh.com, she even said that Botox is poison.Granted, there may be other stars that are with her in her stance against plastic surgery, but her harshness on the subject that has drawn the ire of its readers. Or perhaps it was not the vehemence of her statements that they don’t like, but the perceived dishonesty in them.
Other actresses almost half her age were at least more forthright about their procedures—see Goldie Hawn.
Because it would take a lot of careful work to stay that fabulous, after all, quoting a news article from makemeheal.com, Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer said, “Joan Collins appears (emphasis added) to have stayed so ‘fresh- faced’ looking through multiple cosmetic procedures such as a facelift, browlift and eyelid surgeries.”
And Dr. Paul S. Nassif, a Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Rhinoplasty Specialist in Beverly Hills, California, said, “Joan Collins appears to have had a facelift, browlift, Botox, facial fillers, and possibly a rhinoplasty at some point in her life. Her work appears overdone, and she would not benefit from having any additional procedures at this time.”
